If you are experiencing abdominal pain, you may want to consider treatment at Southeastern Interventional Pain Associates. We offer treatments for abdominal pain and many other types of pain, and serve patients in the Alpharetta, Atlanta, and Sandy Springs communities.
What is Abdominal Pain?
Abdominal pain most often occurs as a result of cancer, chronic pancreatitis, or abdominal adhesions. Although our treatments cannot cure these issues, they do offer relief from the pain that is experienced. With abdominal pain treatment, patients can achieve relief from their pain so that they are able to perform their normal activities comfortably.
Celiac Plexus Block for Abdominal Pain
For abdominal pain, we typically perform a celiac plexus block. This injection treatment targets the celiac plexus — a bundle of nerves responsible for sending pain signals to the brain. This injection is performed using digital X-rays to ensure accuracy and efficacy. Once injected, the nerves are blocked, preventing pain signals from being sent. As a result, you will no longer experience abdominal pain. Some patients may need multiple treatments to achieve their desired results, and the effects can last between a few months and a few years.
Am I a Good Candidate for this Treatment?
If you are experiencing abdominal pain, you may be a good candidate for a celiac plexus block. To find out if you are a good candidate for this treatment, schedule an appointment with our office. During your initial appointment, a doctor at Southeastern Interventional Pain Associates will review your medical history and complete a thorough exam to ensure that you are a good candidate.
